But, how do we wear Ultra Violet?
It’s here! This time of the year every year, Pantone chooses what will be the color of the year. As it happened with Greenery last year, once the veredict was announced it started flooding runways, closets and window displays taking over the previous color domain.
This year it’s Ultra Violet 18-3838’s turn. This color, Prince’s favourite and protagonist of Hendrix’s Purple Haze, stands out for being sensual and provocative, but also for reminding us of visionary futuristic aesthetics. As Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of Pantone, expressed: “it is the most complex of colors”.
Combining it, unfortunately, isn’t as easy as it was with 2016 Quartz Pink, due to its chromatic complexity, as this color is “found by mixing two other colors that are opposites, blue and red, to create something new”. Although black seems to be our only option, Ultra Violet offers many more possibilities that we could think of at first.
Luckily, fashonistas and influencers have already updated their wardrobe and are giving us a free lesson on how to incorporate Ultra Violet into our style. The queens of street style show us that the color of the year is perfect to boost your daytime looks and to give your evening outfits a touch of sophistication.
How will you wear it?
